Making Democracy Work

Voter Education

We make voting easier through varied voter education programs.

The League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis conducts voter service and citizen education activities throughout the metro region, including outlying counties. Our goals for voter education are:

  • Build citizen participation in the democratic process.

  • Study key community issues at all government levels in an unbiased manner and create action and advocacy opportunities for members, community partners, and citizens.

  • Enable people to seek positive solutions to public policy issues through education and conflict management.

If you are interested in bringing the League to your neighborhood, community, or event for voter education please contact us at league@lwvstl.org or call the office at 314-961-6869. If you are interested in volunteering or joining the league to engage in voter education opportunities, contact us via the above contact methods and indicate your interest.

The League is a grassroots organization founded in 1919. We are funded through membership fees and donations from the community. Please consider supporting the League through gifts and donations. All donations to the LWV Education Fund, a 501(c)(3)corporation, are fully tax-deductible where allowed by law.

League Publication Voter Service

Register and Vote Information on voter registration and more. Copies are available at no cost from the League office.

The League of Women Voters Joint Office - Missouri and Metro St. Louis makes election related material available to Missouri voters. Launched by the League of Women Voters U.S. Education Fund, VOTE411.org on-line "one-stop-shop" for election related information. The site content is updated 4-6 weeks prior to election dates.

It provides nonpartisan information to the public with both state and local-specific information on all parts of the election process including:

  • Absentee ballot information
  • Ballot measure information
  • Early voting options
  • Election dates
  • Factual data on candidates
  • ID requirements

An important component of VOTE411.org is the polling place locator, which enables users to type in their address and retrieve the poll location for the voting precinct in which that address is located. The League has found that this is among the most sought after information in the immediate days leading up to, and on, Election Day.

VOTE411 includes state wide candidate and ballot measure information and selected local elections. The St. Louis League has renewed its agreement with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to produce Voters Guides for St. Louis City, and Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis and Warren Counties. Candidate and ballot measure information will appear on VOTE411 as well as in the Post-Dispatch.
